Now to connect your computer to your TV. There are number of ways to do this. The cables you use depend on the type of connection your laptop and TV uses.

Ranked from highest to lowest, select your picture quality by choosing one of these cables/connections:

    1. HDMI is the highest picture quality and should be available on all HDTVs. If your computer is not equipped with an HDMI connection, an adapter will convert HDMI to DVI.
    2. DVI is standard on most TVs and computers. In order to have audio, you’ll need a separate audio cable. You can even use the cable from your phone output and connect it to the red and white audio port on your TV.
    3. VGA is the most common of all video connections on TVs and computers. If watching on an HDTV, simply connect the cables between your TV and computer. Older TVs will need a PC to TV converter. Additionally, VGA does not carry audio, so simply use the instructions explained above to connect sound.
    4. S-Video is standard on most TVs and computers. Connecting audio will require you follow the same steps as outlined above.
    5. Composite connections or RCA are the familiar yellow, red and white ports. This will give you the lowest quality picture. Use an RCA to S–Video cable if your computer isn’t equipped with RCA.

The next step is to select the input on your TV. For this, simply select the input that your computer is connected to. It may be AV1 or AV2.

Adjust the pixel or resolution settings on your TV if the picture is distorted or unclear. Older TVs may only have one resolution setting, so adjust your computer resolution accordingly.
